I am a professional photographer from Hinckley, Illinois living on the farm where I grew up. It's been in our family for 150 years and provides many natural backdrops for photos.
For as long as I can remember, photography has been a part of my life. My mom took countless photos and movies for many years. She usually had her film camera in one hand and her movie camera in the other. My dad's favorite was his Kodachrome slides. Their love of photography made for many memorable "movie" nights for our family.
I am a small-town farm gal who would rather be outdoors than indoors. I love to be surrounded by nature. My husband, Steve, is a Missouri-raised farm boy and our four children have flown the coop. My family means everything to me. Over the years while raising our kids, long before I owned a digital camera, I took thousands of photos, along with videos, chronicling their lives. What started as a way to momentarily freeze time while capturing memories has become my passion. I upgraded to a digital camera and attended Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, IL educating myself in their Digital Photography Program.
My photos have been exhibited at Waubonsee Community College and published in "Horizons", their literary magazine. One of my photos also became part of their permanent Student Art Collection. My work has also been exhibited at Northeastern Community college in Chicago, IL.
During the summer of 2018, my photo "Beauty in the Details" was exhibited at The 311 Gallery in Raleigh, North Carolina. It was one of 25 final digital prints chosen to be in their national show. There were over 300 pieces of art on display.
A series of my images was published in the sports section of The Daily Chronicle, Dekalb, Illinois which featured the 2018 "Undefeated" Indian Creek Middle School girls' basketball team.
I am a firm believer in continuing my education. I challenge myself everyday to learn something new that I can apply to my photography and offer to my clients.
